Car Insurance Void?

Car Insurance Void?

Did you know that if you are involved in a collision and you have a pet loose in the car, your insurance will be void plus you may be fined £5,000?

A recent survey found that a fifth of all drivers who had pets in the car admitted to not having them properly secured.

Rule 57 of the Highway Code states: “When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seatbelt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.”

A case last year saw a driver who had been hit by another car not only loose his claim, but he had to pay for the repair of the other driver’s car. All because he admitted that his dog was lying unrestrained on the backseat.
